The Ejmont family like to strike a signature pose on holiday – arms stretched out flying high. It meant good fun on their destination photoshoot in Tokyo with Jim!
Jolene, her husband Andrzej, and their three children are a self-described “family of wanderlusters on a mission to explore the world” from Brisbane.
They first came onto our radar earlier this year on social media and their story really resonated with us. “Reality is we can’t call it quits on our life, quit our job and start living out of a suitcase like so many inspirational young individuals who travel full-time do.” said Jolene. Yep, we thought – that’s us (we also have children and a certain level of stability is important to us).
So, like our first step toward Wanderloud, they took theirs in saving for their first, proper family holiday.
A few months later we saw they were heading to Japan – happy days! We got in touch and excitedly planned a destination photoshoot in Tokyo.
A mix of natural, candid shots with a twist
Jolene wanted natural, candid shots – with just one special request. “We try to do a signature pose in each new destination we visit,” she explained.
“It’s a family shot with arms stretched out – flying high. We’d really like one of these in each location please. Possibly the only photo that has to be specifically posed!”
Game on! We got their photographer, Jim, on board who thought it was a great idea.
“The shoot was a lot of fun. I got a nice mix of posed and natural shots. I couldn’t wait for them to see them!” he said.
Jolene felt the same way – “We had an incredibly time with Jim! He is truly an awesome guy and helped us to relax super quickly! Cannot wait to see the photos!”.
The destination photoshoot itself
We were thrilled with Jolene's verdict. "Man alive it was a brilliant experience! It was so nice to to just enjoy exploring whilst someone else was responsible for capturing the moments! We got some incredible shots and the memories you create through them are priceless," she said.
“Thank you! So gorgeous and so special! So great to have a different perspective on how we always take our own photos. In love!” says Jolene.
“It was briliant to be able to pop the cameras away for a part of the trip and to just enjoy my family and my surroundings (and actually get all of in the one photo – amazing)!”
“It’s also not often I can get some nice casual shots with hubby. Either I'm behind the camera or he is. So in love with having a destination photoshoot!”
The Ejmonts chose Senso-ji Temple in Tokyo and Ueno Park with its cherry blossoms as the locations for their shoot. Read about their experience there (and see more of their beautiful photos!) here.
