In Chinese tradition, 70 is a big thing but Reah’s mum isn’t one to hold big parties. Her idea of celebrating is to have all her children and grandchildren together.
With everybody spread around the world this doesn’t happen very often. Tokyo came up trumps as a mid-point for the Sy family.
It was the first time all ten grandkids were with their po po (Mandarin for grandmother) altogether.
Our photographer Janine was there to capture it.
“We had an absolutely wonderful time bonding and reconnecting at Hamarikyu Gardens,” says Reah.
“It was about getting to know my nieces and nephews who are growing up too fast, and catching up with siblings.”
“It was quite challenging trying to organise such a big group but the outcome was worth it.”
“Janine is such a gem. She made everyone feel so relaxed and it shows in the photos.”
“My mum loves the photos and has been showing them off to her friends.”
“It was the perfect 70th birthday gift. A great way to capture precious moments and not worry about missing out on the best shots or leaving anyone out.”
“My deepest appreciation and gratitude for making our trip so memorable.”
